Lech golf course is situated at an altitude of 1,500 metres above sea level, and is thus the highest golf course in Austria. The fairways follow the Zug valley directly beside the river Lech, which has to be played over in several places. Playing upriver, golfers enjoy unrivalled mountain views of the Roten Wand. It’s immediately obvious that the designers of the golf course wanted to enhance the beautiful Zug valley, and to reduce to a minimum the course’s impact on the natural environment: a classic case of sport and nature hand in hand. As a result, golfers can frequently enjoy the company of marmots, golden eagles and other alpine fauna.
